CANADIAN REFEREES HAVING IMPACT AT WRWC

Ahead of Wednesday's action at the Women's Rugby World Cup, it is important to note that two Canadian officials have been busy at the tournament working as referees or assistant referees in the various matches.

Ontario's Joyce Henry will be an assistant referee in the USA vs Ireland re-match, while BC's Sherry Trumbull takes centre stage as referee for the Wales vs Sweden match at 2:15 PM local time.

Director of rugby for Rugby Canada, Dr. Trevor Arnold, was glowing in his praise for the achievement of the young referees he has had a hand in developing.

"This is simply a fantastic level of appointment for Sherry Trumbull," said Arnold in a memo. "This is an extremely significant appointment for a Canadian referee as is Joyce’s appointment to the Assistant Referee role for the very important Ireland v USA game.

"We should all be proud of the efforts of both of these members of our refereeing fraternity. I encourage you all to monitor the future appointments they receive as referee and assistant referee as the tournament comes to a climax."
